Support *.mm format
The only available format for exporting mind maps can Andy be edited whit paying software. Introducing *.mm format available makes it possible to use Freemind (open source), much better for students!

I agree! Indeed, Freemind, Freeplane and Docear (a project of a german university and the Frauenhofer institute) use the MM format.
This is not only important for the people who use, out of principles or out of economics, OpenSource programs, it is also relevant as you get near a kind of STANDARD.
MM supports different categories of nodes details, attributes, notes and links. You can have a look how DOcear imports marked PDFs into Freeplane node structure.
It allows a more complex map, which would be great to have as the following step of a investigation workflow. I use Freeplane for my PhD thesis, I have maps with over 3000 nodes and it is absolutely stable.
And it isn't very difficult, the Mindmanager-format is not very far away.
Another interesting format, not used that much but more complex that the simple tree-mindmap, is VUE by the TUFTs university
