Traditional circular or free flow mapping?
Floating is an available option, yes, but floating doesn't link ideas uniformly...
Not sure if these are in paid version, but there is nothing that says this.
Current mapping (sideways org chart isn't so great for some things)

Yes! It would be really great to make nonhierarchical connections between elements!
